My Aunt’s Apartment in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

I made this render with the intent of creating a scene that provoked a sense of abandonment and isolation; A once well-kept bohemian studio ravished by the gnarly blizzards of Southern Wisconsin. However quite ruined, the apartment finds a new tenant - a midwestern-nomad seeking shelter amidst a destructive winter storm.

I was given a 3DSMax file, with objects, textures, and lighting that when put together made for a digital, upscale apartment living room. Using 3DSMax for the first time, I quickly picked up the basic commands of scaling, moving and rotating objects, however I was seeking a deeper understanding of the program and ultimately a more profound final scene. Using a Poly Snow plugin, I applied digitized snow onto nearly every surface in the scene, and further developed the “snowed-in” environment. This task was certainly difficult, but confirms my software-adaptability and quick learning skills.
